Additional Details

an exquisitely sensitive portrait of nancy lee, the subject of Langston Hughes's short story, "One Friday Morning." The reverse of this painting bears the following notation "Great Stories for Young Readers- Story Killed - Art Unused Part IV." It appears that Readers Digest was considering including Langston Hughes's short Story "One Friday Morning" in their "Great Stories for Young Readers" series, but somewhere along the line the story was dropped. It is quite possible that their publication date was too close to a collection of Hughes' short stories that Macmillan was bringing out in 1979.
